The architect has provided us with a virtual fly by and some images of the new Jr. Sr. High School.  These images are just a preliminary design and the building may or may not look exactly as it is depicted here when completed.

Our new readerboard has not been working as of late because of a faulty controller board.  John Kelly and Shane Loucks have been working with Daktronics to get the sign operational again.  Daktronics has shipped a replacement controller and it should arrive by Friday, May 1st.  The readerboard carries a 5-year warranty and there is no cost to the District for the replacement parts.

Those of you that have driven by may have notice that the new reader board is installed.  Daktronics will be here at 1:00pm on Monday 11/24 to setup the control unit and train staff to administer the reader board.  We should start to see events and notices appear later this afternoon.

On September 25. 2008, White Pass School District No. 303 interviewed before the State Project Review Committee and received a nearly unanimous vote (7 to 1) approving the District’s request to utilize the GC/CM (General Contractor / Construction Manager) delivery method. What does this mean?? In short it means that the District can open the bidding process for general contractor now, at the beginning of our construction project. This allows the general contractor to be a part of the building design process and work with the District and community early in the project. The use of GC/CM also focuses on the use of local sub-contractors and team building between district staff, community members, and local businesses.

Schedule for GC/CM bidding / selection;

Weeks of Sept 29 and Oct 6 – Advertise for Statement of Qualifications
October 9 – Mandatory meeting for interested GC/CM’s at WPSD
October 17 – Statements of Qualifications due to WPSD from interested GC/CM’s
October 20-22 – Scoring of submittals
October 23 – Scores reviewed and firms to be interviewed selected
October 24 – Notify firms selected for interviews and set interview schedule
October 27 – Request for Proposals issued to the selected firms
November 3 – Interviews of selected firms.
November 13 – Final proposals due to WPSD by 2:00 p.m.
November 13 – Final proposals scored and recommendation to board at 5:00 p.m.
November 14 – Contract documents sent to the GC/CM

The new readerboard is scheduled to arrive from the factory on October 15th.  As you drive by, you may notice that the trench has already been dug for the electrical service for the sign.  All the permits are filed and in order and we are on schedule to see the sign start to go up on Monday October 20th.
